Paper Presented at Intern ational Conference on sustainable Cashew PRODUCTION - Challenge and Opportunities Octomber Panjim-Goa-India. Introduction. Sri Lanka is an island in the Indian Ocean separated from the Indian Sub Continent by Palk Strait. History of Sri Lanka earlier known as “Ceylon” is more than years old. There are two main groups of vegetables grown in Sri Lanka based on the agro-ecological adoptability. The upcountry (hilly areas) vegetables constitute crops such as cabbage, carrot, beetroot, cauliflower, knolkhol, bean, tomato, and capsicum which are grown on a commercial scale with high input use.

  Cluster analysis revealed a strong overall similarity relationship among the varieties and land races in a range of 56 % (minimum) and 74 % (maximum) with an intermediate of 68 %.The findings in.
